Well I thought it would be probably be a good bet given that it’s a plasma, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it was.

I spent about 5 minutes after getting out the box tweaking the settings a bit to my own tastes to get the colour balance right. (used expert settings and turned down sharpness, and reigned the colour back a bit to avoid the reddish tint on skin tones). There’s plenty of detail but image remains smooth (not soft or overly sharp & artificial). Backgrounds look pretty clean, very little in the way of mosquito noise.

I also noticed the slight greyish colour on whites mentioned in other reviews – although it’s worth pointing out that calibrated white is not actually pure brilliant white as you might expect, it is slightly grey.

The screen burn for me is the biggest issue, however I have only had this set a few days, so a certain amount of screen burn is to be expected in the first few hundred hours, but out of the box – video games are a big no-no, and do not leave it on a DVD menu screen or EPG – even a few minutes will retain the image. Although it’s easily cleared after 5-10 minutes of normal viewing. I’m really hoping this gets better with use.

Also, being picky – the diagonal lines can appear jagged or stripy on the standard settings however, I’m going to have a play and see if there’s a setting to eliminate it.

Connectivity is excellent on a screen this size and price. The Freeview picture is very nice, the EPG is crisp and clear, and still allows you to see some of the picture you’re watching and hear the sound which I much prefer to the way other sets do it that totally cuts the signal while you browse the guide.

As others have also said, this set murders the Panasonic LCDs, and I’ve installed a lot of those screens. However, it’s not quite in the same league as the 42″+ PZ80/85 screens but it’s not all that far behind.

It’s great that a manufacturer has released a Plasma this size, because it finally allows you to get good image quality on a small screen size – you don’t have to put up with LCD! (well at least not for as long as they keep making it!)

More than happy-Panasonic TX-P37X10B 37-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV

For stunning picture quality a plasma TV is the natural choice. Panasonic VIERA plasma TVs are renowned for their outstanding picture performance especially in regards to sporting events, action movies and gaming content.

Best motion picture reproduction

Watching TV is about moving images rather than still images. A still image in high resolution looks brilliant on almost any HDTV, but when the images are moving, you can see a clear quality difference as many TVs have difficulties to display fast moving contents without motion blur.
All Panasonic plasma TVs are equipped with 100Hz technology. This superb technology doubles the output frame rate, meaning the gaps of time between image frames are lessened. The more frames inserted, the smoother the overall imaging will be for the human eye. The 100Hz technology is a major benefit to you as it aids in creating flicker-less moving images.

Like a previous reviewer I won’t go into detail because the good reviews are 10 a penny! Just my one tip – if when watching sky you find the banners are a little pixelated (especially the yellow areas) then find ’3D comb’ in the picture set up menu and turn to on. Makes a big difference. This TV really is a top bit of kit. It’s much better looking than it appears in the pictures too, the bottom of the set looks dull but it’s actually shiny all over apart from a thin line running widthways beneath the brand name. I’d recommend it to anyone

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ81 Simply the best

I have had this TV for 2 months now and I am so pleased I researched and then bought it.

With Sky+ I simply plugged into a spare LNB socket (four in total, not using sky multiroom!) then straight into the TV for full HD, BBC and ITV,wow and free!.

Although Freesat is great the full hd range from BBC and ITV is limited but seems to cover all Football!

The picture is quite simply superb. Whether using sky or freesat/freeview the picture is crisp blur free and very, very watchable. I had a sony 29″ CRT before so was reluctant to upgrade, hearing and seeing horror stories and pictures from mainly larger LCD TVs. Plasma means no blurry football or movement, very very important to sports lovers. DVDs are also truly excellent.

My honest advice, and I am very picky, is pay a little more, sit back and enjoy for years! ( a 5 year waraanty was free from a local shop and negotiate hard on price). I hope freesat hd takes off, but it is great having such a good bit of kit. My last piece of advice is that 42” seemed huge at first but it was amazing how quickly you get used to it so go as big as you dare!! Good luck!!

Best Blacks

would highly recommend this TV, it may look similar to many other tv’s currently available however this is where the similarity ends. The picture quality is outstandingly good with black levels comparable to the Kuro without the price premium. The built in FreeSAT allows access to free HD programmes and is a facility not offered by any other manufacturer at the moment.

Suprised at how good it is-Philips 42PFP5532D – 42″ Widescreen HD
Ready Plasma TV

I have this TV few days ago, not in the Amazon region, I was looking for a good plasma. I thought that was for less? 400. The image is sharp and clear. She sits comfortably in a corner of the room was, in my old

TV. Beware, if you want to hang on the wall, it is very difficult!

The sound is perfect for a TV, but sometimes I find a good message. I
used only the standard DVD player and Sky. Great photos. Scene in my Xbox 360 and 480p, shows very clearly, and to play a DVD of Star

Wars-540P displayed.

I am pleased to have the purchase of this set, the trip should not be

Full HD, but I could not really make a difference.
It is worth the price

I have this TV a couple of weeks ago, and I am still surprised at the quality of the image of class and everything that surrounds them. Have

Sky HD and watch sport on the screen and he is my husband’s Anfield days in court.

I went to this series, because it is a model at a reasonable price a good producer and I think it is one of the smarter purchasing decisions, which I have for a long time.
