A qualified triumph- Panasonic TX-P42G10B 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Plasma TV

Full-HD NeoPDP Models with built-in freesat, Superb Moving Picture Quality and Advanced Networking Capabilities
The new Panasonic G10 Plasma range offers high-image-quality functions that will appeal to movie fans and gamers alike, along with a host of networking functions that will enhance the experience.
The High Definition G10 range with freesat built-in is a convenient and easy way to view over 140 digital TV and radio channels including brilliant HD programmes from the BBC and ITV – all for free. Freesat offers subscription-free HD services, gives you super fast digital text, as well as digital subtitles and audio description and as the freesat service is satellite based, further capacity for the expansion of HD services can be assured

I initially wanted to buy its big brother – the V10 – because of its apparently svelte looks when compared to the G10′s sombre facade. However when I finally got to see the two machines side-by-side at John Lewis there was no contest. The G10 suddenly appeared handsome, purposeful and solid.

With regard to the picture however it was love at first sight. Panasonic’s extravagant claims have all been borne out. Motion clarity is excellent. Almost judder-free when panning, fast-moving objects always remain razor sharp. The contrast and colour range, as noted elsewhere, are not only stunning but also realistic.

It is worth noting that Panasonic do not make any similarly wild boasts about this unit’s audio capabilities – which is just as well because the in-built speakers are a huge disappointment. Voices and treble sounds are crisp and clear, but feed it anything with significant mid-range or bass and the experience is truly underwhelming. My patience with the supplied speakers lasted all of a week before I upgraded to a magical Pioneer LX 03 surround sound system (somehow it didn’t seem right to buy Panasonic). I now have perfect audio-visual harmony.

Given the wonderful screen, extraordinary value (especially on Amazon!!) and the lack of pretence from Panasonic regarding the audio performance I have no hesitation in awarding 5 stars and recommending this product heartily.
