I bought this TV from Amazon the week before Thanksgiving on a Wednesday night. It happened to be on sale for 9 with the Samsung DVD/theater system thrown in for free. After having read all the glowing reviews from others on this page and doing an adequate amount of research on Plasma vs. LCD, LED and 720P vs 1080P, I decided this was the best bang for the buck! Amazon actually said it would be shipping on the following Monday and would arrive a week or so beyond that. I was very pleasantly surprised to check the status and see it was actually shipped on Thursday and arrived at my house on Monday!! This was great for me since my parents were coming for Thanksgiving and I wanted to show it to them. I was worried after reading all the reviews that my expecations might be a bit too high. Having said that, I can confirm that the picture on this TV is absolutely amazing!! My earlier 40 inch Sony LCD TV was very nice, but this Samsung TV is on a different level! It looks so real and the blacks are amazing! As others have also said in their reviews, there is an extra composite output which is not mentioned in the specs, its shared with one of the component outputs so you can have one or the other. It probably could have come with one more HDMI output, but 3 is fine. The Samsung DVD/theater system works great with the TV. When I turn on the DVD player, it automatically turns on the TV, that’s pretty nice! The receiver/speakers on the theater system are great as well!
The TV was actually shipped by some other carrier by Amazon called CEVA. The people that delivered the TV actually came into my house and opened up the box to show me it wasnt cracked, etc. They even hooked up the TV stand to the TV and turned the TV on to show me that everything was working correctly! I was very happy with this because if they hadnt done this, I might have had to tell them to wait so I could check the TV myself to see if it was cracked and possibly have to refuse delivery. Glad I didnt have to do that!
When I first turned the TV on in the afternoon when it arrived, I was a bit worried though because the picture was a bit blurred and I thought something must be wrong. However in the evening when I turned the TV back on, everything looked fabulous! I can only assume that it may have had to do something with the TV moving around during delivery. I’ve had the TV for about 2 weeks now and everything’s working great, hoping it will stay that way for a long long time!
The picture looks especially amazing when I am watching HD broadcasts via cable. I havent even had to fiddle with the picture settings! I cant wait to try out the TV with Blueray DVDs since I’ve seen some reviews saying these will look amazing with it. Thank your Amazon and Samsung!!
