Prior to this purchase, for 2 years I was shopping independently for a 32″ LCD TV and for a small, but quality stereo for my iPod. Both of these items were for my living room. It never occurred to me that there would be a TV with an iPod dock. When I spotted this TV in a store, I thought it was a brilliant idea. While I couldn’t find any reviews of this TV, I was confident with the JVC brand. My instincts were correct.

The picture quality is terrific as is the sound quality. When using my iPod, I really like that I can view the title and artist on the TV screen. I saved 0 by purchasing from Amazon… plus the savings of no longer needing to purchase a stereo. The hardest part of setting up the TV was removing the heavy old TV that this one is replacing. I’ve only had the TV for a month so there are more features for me to discover. I’d buy the same product again.

I see other people have had problems w/ other systems trying to get remote to operate TV. After a call to Cox and one to Sylvania, and not getting anywhere, i did the following. I programed the Cox Box to only power the the AC outlet on the back of the box to only get power, when the cable box is on. That took care of the on/off of the TV. Next had the Cox Box control the TV volume through it and that took care of the volume. Now i don’t need the TV remote to operate the TV. Hope this may help someone.

I seemed to be the only person who did not own a flat screen, modern TV. All the TVs in the house are between 10-15 years old and slowly dying. After finding reason after reason to put off purchasing a new TV I saw this Gold Box deal for a Panasonic VIERA S1 Series TC-L32S1 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV for 9.00. I could not believe it. Then I checked Consumer Reports and they had this model ranked 3rd for 32 inch LCDs. I had to order it. It is the perfect size for my bedroom. I removed an old 20″ RCA TV and I could not believe how heavy the thing was. I am thinking of tossing it out the window rather than carrying it down the stairs! (But it has to go to the recycling center so I won’t!)

I am not disappointed at all. I thought the TV was amazing from the start but then I got an HD cable box connected using the HDMI cable and wow! I cannot believe the difference in picture quality. I watched a few hours of the Olympics and it looked fabulous. Events like speed skating and bobsleding that have a lot of motion looked beautiful. I did not notice any blurring on the fast motion scenes. I have watched one Blu-Ray movie and once again I could not believe the crispness of the picture.

I know I have just come out of the dark ages of ‘tube’ televisions but I will plan on replacing the other 2 sets in the house. I wish I had purchased two of them while the deal was on but I am sure Amazon will have another great deal soon.

Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-32XBR9 32-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

This is a great tv for the 0-0 dollar range. (I would never pay full price for ANY television.)
Picture is great, sound very good from the small speakers with the TruSurround turned on. Just turn up the bass a little.
Some have been complaining about the HDMI on the side, but you can get adapters that will angle the cords downward.
Other complaints about things like the sleep timer, etc. aren’t that bad. You should get a full manual with your tv, though. Or an option to go online and print one.
When buying an HDTV, you have to consider two things: the picture of the tv you’re buying and the HD input signal.
Some problems people are having might have to do with the signal more than the tv.
Always check from different sources–cable box vs. antenna input–if you detect a problem.
Which brings me to COMCAST…
Case in point–Comcast sucks.
Through their cable box of choice, the Motorola DCH3416, you get a box that tells you, on the front, what kind of signal you’re processing on any given channel.
It’s either 1080i or 480i. There are other options, but Comcast, from the box, deals in only those two flavors from what I can tell.
And when you go from one to the other, you get a loud audio *POP*.
And sometimes, when you go from HD to SD, you get a loud audio *POP*…and then no video. Audio, but no video.
So, I also have the cable going directly into the antenna input.
GO back and forth between HD and SD channels….no pop. No problems.
This tv tells you what signal you’re getting as well, 1080, 480, even 720.
A simple Google search tells me that this problem has been going on for MONTHS for Comcast customers, and with other brands of televisions as well.
It’s the box, not the tv.
Will Comcast fix this?
Maybe in ten years, who knows?
Also, they promised us DVRs in the Motorola box made by TiVo, and we’re still waiting for that.
Bottom line: great picture on the tv (for a good price), minor things you can live with, and Comcast sucks.

I got the Samsung UN32B6000 tv because of size and weight issues with the location for installation. After looking at reviews by other buyers on multiple web sites for this and other 32″ LED tvs (of which there are not many), I chose the Samsung and am extremely pleased. I purchased it from Amazon because of a great price and free delivery.

The setup was quite easy, and the picture is amazing. HD output is fantastic, and analog TV sources are much better than I expected. Upconverted DVD content is really good on this set. As with most flat panel televisions, the sound is only adequate. The system does come with a clear voice setting for the sound and that has helped me hear dialog in TV show, DVDs and Blu-Ray movies. Best of all, the clear voice setting allows me to watch sporting events at a much lower volume than my old, analog tv , and that keeps my wife happy.

Installation was quite easy, but buyers should be aware that all connections on the set were quite recessed. I used a low profile wall mount and as a result, adding cables after the initial installation is quite a challenge. Careful pre-installation planning of cable requirements is a must. There are a lot of connections on the set (4 x HDMI, one of which is for an HDMI to DVI cable for use with most HD cable boxes, coax for cable in, 2 USB, ethernet, component and digital audio and a PC connection if you don’t have HDMI output on your PC.)

I use a Samsung BD1590 Blu-Ray player, and the TV and Blu-Ray player are nicely integrated. Turn on the BD player and it automatically turns on the TV and switches input to the proper HDMI input on the TV. It also optimizes the link for best output. Both TV and BD player controllers are consistent in layout and the one from the BD player controls key TV functions like volume, source, channel. Neither controller is a universal controller and as such, you must use the one provided with your cable box to change channels for regular TV viewing.

Overall, I am quite pleased with my choice of this TV.

I have owned two of these units since fall 07 and so far they have been great. The picture quality especially in HD is excellent. I saved a lot compared to big-name units of the size and it was worth it (less so today since prices seem to have converged). I am only writing because the recent posts seem to be very negative but that was not my experience.

I do not doubt the posts here and would recommend that one buy an extended warranty from a third party with this set, just in case. Indeed, it may be better to buy one refurbished so that the Westinghouse warranty period is short lived (90 days) and another warranty company kicks in earlier. I bought mine online from eCost refurbished (and saw nothing wrong with them as arrived) but added the warranty for two years. I did this again last month with a slightly newer Westinghouse model, as a gift for a relative, and added the SquareTrade warranty for not much extra. Buying it that way is very cheap and relatively safe. Assuming they survive the first 90 days, you will never have to deal with Westinghouse customer service which people here say is bad. But the product itself seems good for the price. If this is the only way one can afford breaking into LCD and HD TVs, at a really cheap cost via refurbished, then go for it. One final caveat for any brand: do not accept delivery until you have seen it work. Make the shipper see you plug it in before signing. At least with eCost, the box itself says that, so it was easy to talk the UPS guy into waiting a minute. I had a small UHF antenna (all you need is a cheap one, even for HD) — or have cable good to go — just to check.

I personally love this TV and the picture and sound that it gives. However I must state that the TV it was replacing probably should be in a museum. We have not as of yet upgraded to HD service and are still working on our usual cable service. love the picture which is a huge upgrade from what we had before. Personally the speakers are also great for me but again that is most likely because of where we started from before we got this TV. I love the fact that I am able to have both my DVD player and my Wii hooked up at the same time. The graphics when playing the Wii are great. The colours are crisp and bright. I would recommend that you change the colour settings to what you like as soon as you get it as it makes a huge difference. For the price I would say this was a great TV I am sure if you are worried about the specs etc then yes you could do better but you would also pay a lot more too.
